After disappearing during deadly flooding nearly two months ago, a cat has finally been reunited with his owners.

The feline named Clover disappeared amid the severe and sudden flooding that hit Central Texas over the Fourth of July weekend. Among the areas devastated by the rising waters was Kerrville, where the pet lived with his owners, Hannah and Kyle, Kerrville Pets Alive shared on Facebook on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

“After being separated from his family,” the nonprofit dedicated to saving homeless pets wrote, “Clover the cat is finally home.”

While detailing Clover’s return home, Kerrville Pets Alive shared that “his humans” have “been searching for him daily since the flood and had recently spotted him.” However, due to “the trauma Clover endured,” he was “scared and hesitant to approach them.”

With time and patience, Kerrville Pets Alive rescued Clover and covered the pet’s medical care, including treatment for a “severe eye injury” the cat sustained during his time away from home. Ultimately, Clover’s injured eye was removed, but the feline has made a full recovery.

Nearly a week after Kerrville Pets Alive trapped and tended to Clover, the pet was “happily reunited with a very relieved Hannah and Kyle” on Tuesday.
